The word “foes” is written in alphabet letters on ganshi paper that has been dyed using traditional washi-dyeing techniques.
“Foes” means enemies.

Message

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, many things have changed.
This work was created with the intention of not being defeated by both visible and invisible enemies.
The ganshi paper is dyed with washi techniques, and while still wet, the letters are placed on top. As a result, the ink bleeds into the dyed areas, creating a deep black world unique to sumi (ink).
