The word 'foes' is written in the alphabet on gasen paper that has been dyed with washi.
Foes means enemies.
Since the onset of COVID, many things have changed.
This piece was created from the desire not to lose to both visible and invisible enemies.
The washi-dyed gasen paper absorbs the ink as the letters are applied before the dye dries, allowing the black ink to bleed into the dyed areas, creating a unique world of black that only ink can produce.
As for my work, I don’t want to create pieces driven by my ego or impulsiveness.
Instead, I aim to create works that can deeply resonate with and linger in people’s hearts.
