Introduction of Artist

After completing the Graduate Program in Ceramics at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts in 2003, Yasukawa Mariko embarked on her academic career as an Educational Assistant at the same institution. From 2005 to 2007, she also served as a part-time lecturer, teaching "Earthenware" while simultaneously advancing her own artistic practice. Her passion for ceramics led her to Tokyo’s Third Point Pottery Studio, where she further honed her craft. In 2021, she established her own studio in Chofu, Tokyo, where she continues to explore the expressive possibilities of ceramics, blending tradition with contemporary innovation.

Message

I am dedicated to expressing traditional ceramic techniques through unique patterns and colors, striving to create works that evoke personal memories and experiences for those who hold them.
I believe that traditional culture is shaped by the dedication of its artisans and the heartfelt connections of those who use and appreciate it. With this in mind, I will continue to refine my craft, hoping to contribute as a part of this ongoing legacy.
