This andon lamp was developed to reinterpret and share the traditional craft of Ise-katagami, a heritage art form passed down since the Muromachi period. The Ise-katagami used in this piece (created by traditional craftsman Isao Uchida) is a treasured Japanese artistic asset that has long been used to dye traditional patterns and motifs onto kimono fabrics. The frame is finished with lacquer, making it resistant to scratches and less prone to discoloration over time.
