磁器土の澄んだ白、青白磁釉の柔らかな青、彫りによる陰影、そして光が透ける蛍手という技法。それら自分が美しいと思うものを掛け合わせる事によって、自然から得たイメージと線の蛍手が調和し、美しい光を創り出す作品を目指し制作しました。

作品の外側だけでなく、内側からも境界なく光を取り込む、まさに光を纏っ
た作品です。季節や時間によって変化する光を器を通して感じていただければ嬉しいです。

The clear white of porcelain clay, the soft blue of celadon glaze, the shadows created through carving, and the translucent effect achieved by the hotaru-de (pierced porcelain) technique—by combining these elements that I find beautiful, I created this work with the aim of producing a harmonious interplay between images inspired by nature and lines of light.

The piece is designed to capture and embrace light not only from its exterior but also from within, without boundaries—truly becoming an object clothed in light.

I would be delighted if viewers could experience the changing qualities of light through the vessel as they shift with the seasons and the passage of time.

樽田 裕史/Hiroshi Taruta

愛知県在住の陶芸家。瀬戸で陶芸を学ぶ。
彼は若かりし日に師匠から追求する美学を学びました。
彼はこう言います。
"極めると、美を体現できる。
極めるには、色んなことに手を伸ばす時間はなく、集中する必要がある。"

伝統的な蛍手の技法のまだ見ぬ可能性を追求し、磁器土の綺麗な白、青白磁釉の柔らかな青、彫りによる陰影などの、自分が美しいと思うものを掛け合わせる事によって、自然から得たイメージと線の蛍手が調和して、美しい光を創り出す作品を生み出します。

愛知県立瀬戸窯業高等学校陶芸専攻科修了後、波多野正典氏に師事。 彼は積極的に展示会に参加し、賞を受賞しました。 2015 年には、ドイツとスウェーデンの陶芸家を訪ねるために、10 か月間ヨーロッパを旅しました。
2017年、マレーシアのAw Pottery Studioにゲストアーティストとして3ヶ月滞在し、現在は1000年以上の歴史を持ち、多種多様な陶磁器を生産する瀬戸市で陶磁器を制作しています。

Hiroshi Taruta is a ceramic artist based in Aichi, Japan. He studied ceramics in Seto, a region renowned for its long history of ceramic production.

In his early years, he learned from his mentor the importance of pursuing a refined aesthetic. As he says:

“To master something is to embody beauty.
To reach mastery, one cannot spend time reaching for everything at once—it requires focus.”

Pursuing the yet-unseen possibilities of the traditional *hotaru-de* (pierced porcelain) technique, Taruta combines elements he finds beautiful—the pure white of porcelain clay, the soft blue of celadon glaze, and the shadows created through carving. Through this approach, images inspired by nature harmonize with delicate lines of transmitted light, resulting in works that create beautiful illuminations.

After completing the Advanced Ceramics Course at Aichi Prefectural Seto Ceramic High School, he apprenticed under Masanori Hatano. He actively participated in exhibitions and received awards for his work.

In 2015, he traveled across Europe for ten months to visit ceramic artists in Germany and Sweden. In 2017, he stayed for three months as a guest artist at Aw Pottery Studio in Malaysia.

He currently creates ceramic works in Seto City, an area with over 1,000 years of ceramic history and a rich diversity of ceramic production traditions.
