父が日本画画家であることが影響してか、書家を志して大東文化大学書道学科に入学しました。
入学してから、同学年の人たちのレベルに驚き、追いつけないと思って別の道を探したとき、表具の世界に辿り着きました。
国宝や重要文化財の修復をする工房や奈良県の東大寺に出入りする工房などで7年ほど修行しましたが、新しいものが作りたい気持ちもあり、その後独立しました。
独立後は、多くの現代作家の方と現代に合う表具のあり方を模索したり、茶道や寺院で使われる従来の伝統的な掛け軸も制作しています。
Kishino Den
Perhaps influenced by having a father who was a Japanese-style painter, I aspired to become a calligrapher and enrolled in the Department of Calligraphy at Daito Bunka University.
After entering university, I was amazed by the high level of my classmates. Feeling that I could not catch up, I began searching for another path and discovered the world of hyōgu (the traditional mounting and restoration of Japanese paintings and calligraphy).
I trained for about seven years at workshops specializing in the restoration of National Treasures and Important Cultural Properties, as well as at studios that work with Tōdai-ji Temple in Nara. At the same time, I developed a desire to create new works rather than only restore existing ones, which eventually led me to establish my own independent practice.
Today, I collaborate with many contemporary artists to explore forms of mounting that suit modern aesthetics, while also producing traditional hanging scrolls for tea ceremony and Buddhist temples.

東京都出身。
5歳より筆を持ち、書家・眞田朱燕に師事。
書を原点としながらも、文字の可読性や意味から解放され、墨・線・余白が持つ純粋な造形美を探求する「墨象（ぼくしょう）」の世界を軸に活動。
2012年に墨象家として独立し、個展での作品発表をはじめ、アートユニット「墨花」での活動、異分野アーティストとの共創を通して、書の新たな可能性を発信している。
作品制作においては、伝統的な書の技法や呼吸を礎としながら、現代のライフスタイルに溶け込む墨の在り方を追求。
同時に、日本各地の伝統産業の現場へと熱心に足を運び、職人たちと共に新しいモノづくりに挑戦。
大阪で95年以上続く草履の老舗「岩佐」や、波佐見焼の窯元、博多織の織元など、職人たちの緻密な手仕事と墨象を融合させることで、現代の感性と結びついた新たな価値を創造している。
墨象を通して、人・地域・文化を繋ぎ、日本の美意識と手仕事の魅力を未来へ伝えていくことをライフワークとしている。
Chima
Born in Tokyo, Chima began practicing calligraphy at the age of five under the guidance of calligrapher Shuen Sanada.
While rooted in the art of calligraphy, Chima's practice centers on Bokushō (abstract ink expression), exploring the pure visual beauty of ink, lines, and negative space beyond the readability and meaning of written characters.
After establishing an independent career as a Bokushō artist in 2012, Chima has presented works through solo exhibitions, collaborated as a member of the art unit Bokka, and worked with artists from diverse disciplines to expand the possibilities of contemporary calligraphy.
Grounded in the traditional techniques and rhythm of calligraphy, Chima creates works that integrate the beauty of ink into modern lifestyles.
At the same time, Chima actively visits traditional craft communities throughout Japan, collaborating with artisans to develop new forms of craftsmanship. These collaborations include long-established makers such as Iwasa, a footwear company in Osaka with over 95 years of history, as well as producers of Hasami ware ceramics and Hakata-ori textiles. By combining their meticulous craftsmanship with the expressive language of Bokushō, Chima creates new values that resonate with contemporary sensibilities.
Through Bokushō, Chima's lifelong mission is to connect people, communities, and culture while preserving and sharing the beauty of Japanese aesthetics and traditional craftsmanship for future generations.
