It was about 20 years ago when I first wondered what I could create if I expressed Australian Aboriginal art using ink.
The color of ink changes from the moment it touches washi paper to when it dries.
I mix small amounts of old and new ink, dropping it onto washi and waiting for it to dry, gradually finding the shade of ink I want. I create over six subtly different shades of black ink.
Sometimes, it takes nearly five hours just to prepare the ink colors.
After that, I freely hand-draw dots, layering them according to my vision.

A single dot placed on gasen paper creates a dark point where the brush touches, with a light halo of bleeding around it.
This effect is unique to gasen paper and ink, something that other paper or paints can't replicate.
Although the work is a collection of dots on a flat surface, it begins to appear three-dimensional.
Additionally, this piece has no specific orientation—there is no top, bottom, left, or right. I hope viewers will enjoy the freedom of interpreting the work in their own way.

As for my work, I don’t want to create pieces driven by my ego or impulsiveness.

Instead, I aim to create works that can deeply resonate with and linger in people’s hearts.
