Closing Notice: Pop-Up Exhibition at THE SODOH HIGASHIYAMA KYOTO

The pop-up exhibition at THE SODOH HIGASHIYAMA KYOTO in Kyoto’s Higashiyama district concluded on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to present these works in a setting surrounded by historic architecture and lush natural beauty. Through this exhibition, we hope that visitors had the opportunity to discover and appreciate Japanese culture, craftsmanship, and the artists behind these works.

We sincerely thank everyone who visited the venue, as well as all those who contributed to and supported the exhibition.

A beautiful space where tradition and contemporary sensibilities intersect, Kyoto’s Higashiyama district is enveloped in the fresh greenery of early summer.

Formerly the private residence of master Japanese painter Takeuchi Seihō, THE SODOH HIGASHIYAMA KYOTO is a celebrated architectural landmark where rich nature and history continue to breathe.

Within this distinguished setting, a special pop-up exhibition was held, featuring a curated selection of outstanding artists from among the award recipients of the 3rd and 4th Japan Wabunka Grand Prix, who are at the forefront of contemporary Japanese craftsmanship.

Lacquerware, bamboo crafts, ceramics, and textile arts came together, showcasing the highest levels of craftsmanship and aesthetic sensibility in harmony with the historic atmosphere of SODOH, creating a unique and unforgettable encounter between art and space.
