Founded 95 years ago, Iwasa is committed to producing domestically made products. They develop their own high-quality, safe adhesives in Japan and use durable paper made from domestically sourced wood, known for its flexibility and strength, as the core material. The cut cores are covered with fabric, which is carefully folded back and glued with millimeter precision by artisans, using their finely tuned sense of touch to apply the "Ise" technique (a method that adds roundness to flat fabric, creating a three-dimensional shape). Each piece is meticulously assembled to create a beautifully shaped clutch bag.
Luxuriously using authentic Hakata-ori obi fabric, the fabric was cut with attention to matching the patterns when the bag is closed. Each step in the process was carefully crafted by artisans.
The lining is a refined touch, with deep crimson used for the black fabric and light green for the white fabric, giving a subtle pop of color visible from the sides.
While perfect for formal occasions, it can also be paired with both traditional Japanese clothing and casual wear.
