This is a collaborative work with my father, a Nihonga painter. The piece features Mount Fuji drawn in ink, with "Ginran," a type of textile woven with silver threads, surrounding the artwork. Additionally, a precious fabric known as "Takeyamachi Kireji," which involves inserting finely cut gold leaf into a coarse silk weave to create patterns, is used to encircle the piece.

Since the piece is drawn entirely in ink, similar to calligraphy, it features only black and white colors. This expands the range of possible color combinations for the surrounding textiles. However, it also means that the choice of textiles can significantly alter the atmosphere of the artwork. The use of these textiles enhances the grandeur of Mount Fuji, making it appear even more majestic against the snowy backdrop.

“Sadly, in Japan, the art of hyogu (traditional mounting) is gradually becoming a forgotten art form. To preserve and sustain this tradition, it is important not only to protect its traditional expressions but also to embrace new forms of expression.”
