This ceramic plate artwork was created in collaboration between traditional craftsman Miwako Murakami from Arita, who made the background, and BOKUSYO artist Chima, who added the ink painting on top.
Miwako Murakami used sponges and other tools to gradually layer colors and fire the piece, creating a textured surface.
On top of that, Chima layered the kanji character for 'light' multiple times using overglaze, and the piece was fired again to complete it.

The ceramic plate undergoes four firings in the kiln before it is finished. Although the process is labor-intensive, I often wonder why craftwork is so undervalued. I have a strong desire to elevate ceramics to something more highly regarded.
Murakami-san is one of the artists I respect most, and working with her is always a joy.
Even though we live far apart, in Kyushu and Tokyo, we share the same vision and passion, constantly inspiring each other to create something wonderful together.
As for my work, I don’t want to create pieces driven by my ego or impulsiveness.
Instead, I aim to create works that can deeply resonate with and linger in people’s hearts.
