This ceramic plate artwork was created in collaboration between traditional craftsman Miwako Murakami from Arita, who made the background, and BOKUSYO artist Chima, who added the ink painting on top.
Miwako Murakami used transfer stickers and other techniques to create a base that appears as if it's covered in gold leaf, and on this, Chima boldly painted a single strong stroke of the kanji character '一' (one) with overglaze, which was then fired.
The brush marks are also an interesting part of the final finish.

The ceramic plate undergoes four firings in the kiln before it is completed. Although the process is labor-intensive, I often wonder why it’s difficult to assign value to craftwork. I have a strong desire to elevate ceramics into something more highly valued.
Murakami-san is one of the artists I respect most, and working with her is always enjoyable.
Although we live far apart, in Kyushu and Tokyo, we share the same vision and passion, constantly inspiring each other to create something wonderful together.
As for my work, I don’t want to create pieces driven by my ego or impulsiveness.
Instead, I aim to create works that can deeply resonate with and linger in people’s hearts.
