[Announcement] New artwork is available

We are pleased to announce the release of an exquisite art series by the renowned lacquerware artist, SASAKI Gakuto. He was awarded the semi-grand prize in the Japan Wabunka Grand Prix 2022.

Sasaki skillfully employs a range of lacquer techniques to craft lacquerware, each boasting unique and captivating textures.

In this showcase, we present three more of his masterpieces: the Kanshitsu box [Heathered grain] (2016) , déjà vu (2016), and Mirage II (2021).
Although the Kanshitsu box [Heathered grain] and déjà vu are both earlier works by Sasaki, the finish is still breathtaking. The Kanshitsu box [Heathered grain], in particular, is a masterful representation of the texture of wood, with the lid opening to reveal that it is not made of wood, while the déjà vu and Mirage II show Sasaki's ability to mimic the texture of leather, with the tops of the two pieces embossed to mimic textile textures.

Don't miss the chance to immerse yourself in the allure of these exceptional artworks.

Additionally, we are preparing to showcase his other works on Green Pheasant, so please stay tuned.

Sasaki's artworks will be featured on a dedicated page at Green Pheasant. This page will exclusively introduce and display the artist's unique works. You can also inquire about these pieces via email. We aim to provide you with a more personalized experience, allowing you to explore the inheritance and innovation of Japanese culture online.

[Announcement] New artworks are available at Green Pheasant

We are delighted to announce the availability of the stunning artwork series by KAJIURA Asuka, she formed the "link" group of female craftsmen and "link" received the special award of the Wabunka Grand Prix 2021.

KAJIURA Asuka is an Ise netsuke craftsman and the representative of 'link', a women's craftsmen's group in Tokai region. She is a former broadcaster at Tsu Broadcasting Station of NHK Nagoya. During her time at NHK, she managed the 'Techniques of the Tokai Region' segment, where she interviewed various craftsmen. She was impressed by the beauty of traditional crafts and the passion put into them, felt a sense of crisis at the potential loss of these crafts due to a lack of successors. This motivated her to become a craftsman herself.

She hopes that netsuke will be an encouragement for anyone facing challenges or having hard times.
