[Announcement] New artwork is available

We are pleased to announce the release of a new ceramic art series by YASUKAWA Mariko, a talented ceramic artist who seamlessly blends traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics. She was awarded the Excellent Award at the Japan Wabunka Grand Prix 2023.

YASUKAWA creates her works using wheel-thrown porcelain and applies the Icchin technique, a slip-trailing method that adds intricate patterns to the surface. Her pieces undergo meticulous coloring, glazing, and high-temperature firing, followed by a final overglaze decoration, achieving a harmonious balance between form and ornamentation. Inspired by nature and fleeting moments, she aims to evoke the flow of time and space in her works, much like how memories resurface when touching a familiar object.

[Announcement] New artwork is available

We are pleased to announce the release of an exquisite art series by the avant-garde calligraphy (BOKUSYO) artist, Chima. She was awarded the Incentive Award at the Japan Wabunka Grand Prix 2023.

Born and raised in Tokyo, Chima began studying Japanese calligraphy at the age of five under Shuen Sanada. She established herself as a BOKUSYO artist in 2012, using washi paper, ink, and traditional Japanese techniques to transcend the boundaries of calligraphy. Her work merges character forms with abstract art, creating a beautiful harmony between tradition and modernity. We are pleased to announce the release of an exquisite art series by the lacquerware artist, LI Yiyan. She was awarded the Excellence Student Award in the Japan Wabunka Grand Prix 2023.

Li Yiyan, originally from China, is deeply inspired by Japanese literature, particularly Jun'ichirō Tanizaki's works. Through her lacquer art, she captures the complex human psychology portrayed in his writing. Li reinterprets Tanizaki's themes in various forms, aiming to create new expressions and interpretations through her art. She believes that, like different readers finding unique meanings in the same story, her art can offer fresh perspectives on classic literature.

[Announcement] New artwork is available

We are pleased to announce the release of an exquisite art series by the mounting artist, KISHINO Den. He was awarded the Excellence Award in the Japan Wabunka Grand Prix 2023.

KISHINO Den, influenced by his Nihonga painter father, aspired to become a calligrapher and enrolled in the Calligraphy Department at Daito Bunka University. Overwhelmed by his peers' skill level, he explored different paths and discovered Hyogu (mounting). After seven years of training in workshops that restore national treasures, including those at Todaiji Temple, he became independent. Now, he collaborates with contemporary artists to explore modern Hyogu forms and creates traditional hanging scrolls for tea ceremonies and temples. KISHINO is dedicated to preserving this cultural heritage by balancing traditional and new expressions in his work.

In addition to showcasing his Hyogu(mounting) works, we have also established a contact form for consultations on calligraphy and painting restoration.
